[3] Corrosion resistance difference. In general, 304 stainless
steel and 316 stainless steel both in the chemical corrosion
resistance performance difference is not big, but in some specific

shared before. When 304 stainless steel was initially developed,
this material was more sensitive to spot corrosion under certain
circumstances. To reduce these sensitivities an additional 2-3% of
molybdenum was added, resulting in 316 stainless steel. And this
extra molybdenum can also reduce the corrosion of certain thermal
organic acids. In various types of water quality (distilled water,
drinking water, river water, boiler water, etc.), 304 stainless
steel and 316 stainless steel corrosion resistance is almost the
same, but when the content of chloride ions in the medium is very
high, 316 stainless steel is more suitable, specific case specific
analysis.

steel is more expensive than 304. [5] Low carbon type. The
corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel comes from the
protective layer of chromium oxide formed on the metal surface.
When the material temperature is heated to 450 degrees - 900
degrees, the structure changes, will form chromium carbide along
the crystal edge and can not form chromium oxide protective layer,
thus reducing the corrosion resistance, this is also known as
"intergranular corrosion". The result is 304L and 316L, which
reduce intergranular corrosion due to their low carbon content. In
particular, higher intergranular corrosion sensitivity does not
mean that non-low carbon content is more susceptible to corrosion,
and this sensitivity is also higher in a high chlorine environment.
